The road into and through medicine is long and often leads to burnout. Whether you're early in training or late in your career, intrapreneurship is one way to rediscover purpose and reassign direction to your career. Intrapreneurship is similar to entrepreneurship, except that your innovative endeavor is developed within the structure and support of an existing organization. This can be your academic university/department, private practice hospital, or your professional organization/network. Sometimes, the hardest part is just getting started. To find your intrapreneurial drive, it is often helpful to reflect on your personal story and focus on significant life events; the 'twists and turns' that have ultimately shaped who you are today. What values have you derived from these life events? And which of these values would you like to share with your professional world? Whether it's creating a new mentorship program, redirecting your industry in light of systemic racism (shout-out to RISE 😉), breaking down silos through creating partnerships with other specialties, or [insert your passion here], if you choose something that speaks to you inherently, you will both never tire of your endeavor, and bring a little light to the world around you. I invite you to share your story in the comments below! *This post was created in association with a talk on 'Maximizing Your Career Trajectory' for RSNA 2022. All are welcome to comment, I'd love to hear from you!
